The Mission of Jo-Ray House, Inc. is to fight social and economic prejudices and injustices by providing a safe place for underserved individuals to heal, while empowering them to reclaim their lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.

CASE MANAGEMENT

HIV/AIDS is a growing health issue in our community. The area’s high rates of HIV infection have led our organization to develop skills in service delivery to this population.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING FOR MEN

Jo-Ray House provides needs assessments and appropriate referrals and placement for housing for all people in need.

  • Individuals are offered housing at several of the Jo-Ray House facilities. Women and children are helped through a referral program that puts them in touch with sister organizations that offer similar services.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Jo-Ray House offers educational workshops along with referrals for treatment & Harm Reduction counseling and HIV/AIDS resources

  • Ms. Byther-Smith speaks at different churches and organizations to educate people on the issue of HIV/AIDS. Her focus is on showing people that attaching stigma to people living with this disease does nothing to help us stay safe and healthy.

FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS

Jo-Ray House provides in-house counseling & referral in areas of HIV /AIDS prevention & treatment, Domestic Violence assistance, and mental health

  • Jo-Ray House staff work with men that have substance abuse problems. Counseling sessions are held in the Jo-Ray House facilities and a t a variety of other locations. Women’s and Men’s Detox is available through collaborative referrals.
  • Jo-Ray House provides domestic violence referrals through temporary emergency shelter and referrals with agencies which specialize in all aspects of domestic violence assistance
